Urban Sketchers Athens is a newly established chapter of the global Urban Sketchers community, an international non-profit network dedicated to on-location drawing. Founded in 2025, it brings together artists, designers, students, and anyone interested in capturing the city through direct observation.
Through sketchwalks, meetups, and organized activities, the community promotes creative expression, the exchange of ideas, and connection through drawing. Open to all experience levels — from beginners to experienced sketchers — it encourages participants to slow down, observe their surroundings, and capture authentic everyday moments through hand-drawn sketches.
With the goal of building a vibrant and active creative community in Athens, Urban Sketchers Athens also maintains a strong connection with the international network, participating in events and collaborations that enrich the global dialogue around urban sketching.
A unique sketching trip to Aegina
As part of its activities, Urban Sketchers Athens is organizing a full-day on-location sketching experience in Aegina on Saturday, April 4, 2026, with the participation of the Urban Sketchers Executive Board.
The day begins with departure from Piraeus aboard Saronic Ferries’ largest vessel, “Phoebus,” turning the journey itself into a creative experience, as participants will have the opportunity to sketch while at sea.
In Aegina, the program includes:
- Full-day sketching at various locations around the island
- Two sketch walks
- Two workshops, with limited capacity (up to 15 participants, registration required via Instagram or Facebook)
- The event is open to everyone — even those with no prior experience — and participation in all activities is free of charge (excluding personal expenses such as ferry tickets and meals).
The day will conclude with a “Show and Tell” session during the return trip to Piraeus, where participants will share their sketches and experiences from the day.
