How do children see Aegina? And what would they choose to show someone who has never visited the island before?
At Aegina Fistiki Fest 2026, Saronic invited some of Aegina’s youngest residents to introduce us to their island — through their own eyes.
And that is how “Aegina Through the Eyes of Children” was created: a children’s art exhibition hosted at the Saronic stand during Fistiki Fest, from 17 to 20 September 2026.
A postcard from Aegina
It all started with one simple question:
“If you were sending a postcard from Aegina to a child who had never been here before, what would you show them?”
Children from local schools and organisations across Aegina received specially designed Saronic postcards and filled them with everything the island means to them.
The sea and fishing boats. Pistachio trees and pistachios. Beaches, houses, sunshine, colours and favourite scenes from their everyday lives.
There were no instructions about what they should draw. Because what we really wanted was to see Aegina exactly as it is seen by the children who grow up here.

The postcards were brought together and displayed at the Saronic stand during Aegina Fistiki Fest 2026, creating a small, colourful exhibition dedicated to the island.
Every drawing was different.
But together, they created perhaps one of the most beautiful postcards of Aegina.
A postcard created by the generation that will shape the island’s future.

More than a journey
For Saronic, our relationship with Aegina goes far beyond connecting the island with Piraeus.
For more than 60 years, we have been travelling across the Saronic Gulf and have become part of the everyday life of the islands we serve.
At the same time, we aim to remain close to the local communities that welcome us throughout the year, supporting initiatives related to culture, education, sports and community life.
Our children’s exhibition at Fistiki Fest was one small way of giving the stage to the children of Aegina.
A chance for them to create, to show us their island and to see their own artwork become part of one of Aegina’s biggest celebrations.

A very special thank you goes to Maria Lagonika, who conceived, designed and curated the initiative from beginning to end, guiding the children throughout the creative process and transforming the original idea into an experience that captured Aegina in such an authentic and unique way.
And, above all, thank you to our young artists for reminding us that sometimes, all it takes is seeing a place from a different perspective to discover it all over again.
