Meet Callirhoe!

At Saronic, every journey is part of a story that began decades ago and continues uninterruptedly in the Saronic Gulf.

The new page of this story has a name: CALLIRHOE.

Her arrival decisively strengthens the connection between Piraeus and the islands of the Saronic Gulf, bringing our fleet to six ships and signaling not only its growth, but also the evolution of a deep relationship with the place, the sea and the people of the region.

Our presence is not coincidental; it is the result of three generations who believed in and invested in this sea. We started with the beloved small car ferries — the so-called “slippers” of the carefree 1970s— a symbol of another, simpler era and invested in modern ships of all types, always remaining faithful to the Saronic Gulf.

The choice of the name is not accidental.

In Greek mythology, Callirhoe was one of the Oceanids, daughter of Oceanus and Tethys — a symbol of the purity, flow and constant renewal of waters.

The name Callirhoe captures our philosophy: respect for the sea, consistency in movement, constant evolution.

Callirhoe is a Japanese closed-type passenger-car ferry, originating from a shipbuilding tradition that is a global standard of quality, efficiency and reliability — characteristics that she now brings with her to the Saronic Gulf.

With a length of 102m. and a capacity of 1,150 passengers and 130 cars, she is being renovated and upgraded to high quality standards in order to offer a modern, comfortable and environmentally friendly travel experience. Its energy-efficient operation, thanks to the excellent design of the Japanese hull and improved fuel consumption, reduces the energy footprint and enhances the “greener” nature of travel in the Saronic Gulf.

Like every Saronic ship, Callirhoe — your new friend in the Saronic Gulf — will carry our colors and philosophy: warmth, care and respect for the passenger.

What’s new about Callirhoe

• Elevator up to the upper deck — now all our fellow humans will be able to fully enjoy the travel experience, go out to the outside decks, feel the sea air and feed the seagulls.

• Specially designed outdoor deck for four-legged friends — with space to play, rest in houses, water supply and amenities that make the trip more comfortable and friendly for everyone.

• Premium Class — a quieter and more private space for those who wish to travel in greater comfort and tranquility.

• Numbered Seats — passengers will be able, if they so wish, to choose a numbered seat for their journey.

CALLIRHOE is the new chapter in a story that has been written in the Saronic for decades, and in a journey where Saronic connects islands, people and moments in a meaningful and timeless way. For us at Saronic, each new ship is not just an addition to the fleet; it is another step in a shared journey with the Saronic and its local communities — a relationship of trust that is built and developed over time.

We are happy and proud to welcome CALLIRHOE to the Saronic fleet and wish her: Bon Voyage.
