For the 16th consecutive year, the Municipality of Aegina is organizing and presenting, as part of its summer cultural program, a rich schedule of theatrical performances by professional theatre companies touring Greece this summer.
Once again, the Theatre Festival promises to enrich the cultural life of the island, offering residents, visitors, and holidaymakers evenings filled with artistic inspiration, entertainment, and emotional uplift through the magic of live theatre.
From ancient times to the present day, the art of theatre has inspired and elevated the human spirit while conveying the timeless values of life. It speaks of human passions, redemption, and the hope for a better future. The ultimate purpose of theatrical expression and performance is to help us become better individuals.
Audiences of all ages will have the opportunity to enjoy performances by renowned actors and engage with the works of both Greek and international playwrights.
The 16th Aegina Theatre Festival will take place from 24 July to 13 August at the courtyard of the Kapodistrian Orphanage and at the familiar venue of the 2nd Primary School of Aegina.
During its meeting on 3 June, the Municipal Council approved by majority vote the organizing committee for this year’s festival. The committee is composed primarily of individuals who have been actively involved in the island’s amateur theatre groups and share a deep passion for the performing arts.
