13th "Ioannis Kapodistrias"

On Sunday, January 28, 2024, the 13th "Ioannis Kapodistrias" Race will be held in Aegina, with races of 20 km, 10 km, 5 km and children's routes.

Ioannis Kapodistrias, first governor of modern Greece, is the most important personality in the modern history of the Greek Nation. Aegina, where he arrived and took the oath upon assuming his duties, which he designated as the first capital of modern Greece, must honor his memory and contribution.

As part of the island's celebration of Governor I. Kapodistrias,  a road race will take place in the center of Aegina.

This year, in addition to the 10,000 meters and 5,000 meters, the 20,000 meters will also be included in the program. Another change is that the 10000 meters will not be done in two turns but in one. All routes are certified by an official meter.

Also, other sporting events will be held.

The start will take place in front of the Holy Church of Panagitsa on the beach of Aegina.


10:30: 200m road race. for toddlers

10:40: 600m road race. for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade Primary students

10:50: 1000m road race. for students of the 4th, 5th and 6th grade of Primary School

11:30: 20,000m.

11:40: 5,000m. (SUNDAY STOP) for runners and walkers and high school students

12:30: 10,000m. by REMVI for runners


In all races from 600m. up to 20,000 meters the first three male and female athletes will be awarded, the first with a Cup and a medal, the second and third with a medal. All participants will be awarded participation medals.


In the children's competitions the awards will be made at 11.00 and in the other competitions at 13.45.


Terms of participation
– Athletes who will participate in the 20,000m and 10,000m route must be 18 years of age or older.

- In the 5,000m race, in addition to Men / Women Runners and - Walkers, High School / High School children can take part, who will participate and compete under the responsibility of their Parents / Guardians. All runners participate at their own risk.

– The 5,000 middle-high school race will have a separate award from the men's-women race.

Entries will close on Saturday 20 January 2024 at 23:59.

The participation package includes electronic timing, medal, banana, water, souvenir gift.

Payment will be made by card only, so that money can be refunded to participants quickly, should the race be postponed. The return has a €1.6 charge.

Cancellation of participation by an athlete can be done up to 15 days before the match. In this case the charge is €3.

With your participation in the race you will be given a gift by the organization upon receipt of your number. For those who want the technical t-shirt of the match, we inform you that it costs 7€ and only those who declare it on the registration form and have completed their registration (payment has been made) will receive it until January 12, 2024.

Entries not completed after 7 days will be deleted, as well as entries not completed by January 21, 2024.

Group declarations of participation from schools - clubs are accepted.


The race is supervised by EL.AS, LIMENIKO, and volunteers. Aegina Hospital "Agios Dionysios" and Aegina Nephrology Center will provide their ambulances for the race. There will also be a doctor and physical therapists, the Aegina radio amateur group, the emergency response group and the Aegina scout group.


Power supply
There will be water supply stations along the route every 2500 meters, for the 20000 meters there will also be isotonic drinks.

Transfers, round trip and return offers
The Organizing Committee of the race has secured a 50% discount for going and returning for the athletes and one companion (no discount for cars).

The discount will apply to those who have completed their participation by Friday 19 January 2024 and have booked tickets with SARONIC FERRIES no later than Friday 19 January 2024.
